Program Staff

ORGANIZATION
Camp Kirk is a small overnight camp for children who have Learning Disabilities, AD/HD, and High Functioning Autism. We strive to build resilience and self-esteem in our campers by providing a supportive, nurturing, and non-competitive environment. 

JOB DESCRIPTION
An individual hired as 'General Program Staff' will be assigned to 1-3 activity areas where they will plan and facilitate programming for the full term of the summer. We hire individuals when we are confident in their capabilities, and we therefore give our program staff a great deal of independence when it comes to planning and facilitating programming. 

In addition all Program Staff are involved with the planning and facilitation of all-camp activities, evening program and the overall camp life. When available, program staff are assigned to provide extra support to either individual campers or cabin groups who require extra attention. 

Program Staff will be assigned to 1-3 of the activity areas listed below. When applying, we ask that you list the program areas that you have previous experience and/or training.

  • Pottery
  • Mad Science
  • Drama and Music
  • Ecology
  • Sports
  • Martial Arts
  • Wilderness Canoe Tripping 
  • Challenge Ropes Course & Climbing Wall 
  • Swimming (lifeguarding cert required)

CONTRACT DETAILS
The dates of employment run from June 18th to August 28th. All staff members reside at camp and Room & Board is provided free of charge. The summer salary for a first year staff is $3000. 

REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Previous experience working with individuals with exceptionalities is an asset
  • First Aid/CPR
  • A criminal record check
