Camp Nurse

ORGANIZATION
Camp Kirk is a small overnight camp for children who have Learning Disabilities, AD/HD, and High Functioning Autism. We strive to build resilience and self-esteem in our campers by providing a supportive, nurturing, and non-competitive environment. 

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Camp Nurse is the primary on-site health care provider. They will be responsible for:
  • Dealing with all cases of injury and/or illness
  • Instituting preventative healthcare measures and educating the staff on health-related issues
  • Overseeing and distributing all medication 
  • Monitoring the general health of all campers and staff
We aim is to hire an individual who is keen to be involved with all aspects of camp life. We are a small family-like camp and we hope that our Camp Nurse will be an integral part of the staff. The job will prove to be excellent experience for anyone wishing to gain more experience in paediatric nursing or the mental health field. 

CONTRACT DETAILS
The dates of employment run from June 18th to August 28th. All staff members reside at camp and Room & Board is provided free of charge. The summer salary for a first year Camp Nurse is $3500. 

REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum experience: Completed RN licensing exam by June 18th
  • First Aid/CRP certification 
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Previous experience working with individuals with exceptionalities is an asset
  • Criminal Record Check
